question?i have a 08 900 classic lt.recently added a dynojet power commander, and hardkrome 2 into 1 sideburner exhaust.i kept the stock air intake for the time being til a later date.this bike stock is rated at 45mpg.i realize with what i,ve added i would lose some mpg, while many said i would gain due to the power commander.but to be honest my milage has gone in the toilet,i mean like 150 miles on a tank.any suggestions please contact me on this site or leave a message for me at mark18465

I got an 08 Vulcan 900 Classic LT for my first bike.  I love it.  It is a good size to handle on city streets in traffic and has enough to keep up with traffic on the interstate to and from work without any issues.  At 595 pounds, it is heavy enough that it does not get blown around on the road and the bumps are a piece of cake.  It is light enough to maneuver easily in a parking lot at low speed.  I too get alot of comments from others (both riders and none riders.) My new mantra is, forget about it, let's ride.  GREAT BIKE

Thanks guys your post have helped me a little bit.  I just looked at 2009 Vulcan Classic LT, just taken out of the box this morning at the dealer ship, still needs some assembling, but it was the exact color and style I was looking for.  I just didn't want to make a rash decision and came back to look at everything I could find on the internet regarding these bikes.

I have not had a bike in about 5 years and then I had an old Yamaha Maxim 750.  Great bike, but in going through a divorce I just couldn't find time to ride.  Now remarried I want to ride again, but have never bought a new bike!  And I am a little nervous about that.  Every bike gets dropped and its much easier to deal with when you have a used bike.  Don't plan on it, but never planned on it before either.

Sounds like this is a great bike for 2 up without being a super cruiser that you can barely lift of the stand.  The other bike I am considering is a V star a couple years old, half the price but only a 650.  Not quite sure that is big enough for two fairly large people to be on.

Any other opinions?

Great bike, huh?  I have the 2007 model and it too was my first bike in 30 years....I LOVE this bike and have almost 6000 miles on in it in 13 months of ownership.

Like yours, mine is still stock, but the bike was loaded to begin with.  I'm looking to add additional driving lights (most likely fork mounted) and LED flashing auxiliary brake lights to the rear.

Slow U-turns were something I avoided in the early going, but I can you that experience and more miles "under your belt" will make a world of difference when it comes to handling this "looks bigger than it really is" bike.

Enjoy....and NICE choice of bike!!!

Delightfully supprised at how wonderful Motorcycle riding is.  My first bike a Kawasaki Vulcan 900 LT.  The envy of quite a few Cyclers at work.

Stock so far, though I am looking to change the head light and replace the front rim that I bent making a u turn in 3rd gear @ 4.4 miles.  Ouch.  I now understand the clutch.
